We are a dynamic public library service with over two million visits each year. The libraries are based at Sunshine, St Albans, Deer Park, Sydenham and Keilor. Our library website receives over one million visits per year. Brimbank Libraries offer a range of services and programs to the community to support lifelong learning, literacy and community development. About the role Bring your passion for leadership and libraries and be part of the progressive team at Brimbank to provide residents, workers and visitors with access to relevant and engaging services, programs, collections and technology. This newly created position is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional with strong leadership, outreach, community engagement and strategic thinking skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach. The Library Team Leader and Portfolio Lead provides strategic input into the management and development of Branch Service Delivery goals and is responsible for the effective day to day management of branch operations including staff, the library building, resources, collections and services. The position is responsible for leading the outreach and engagement portfolio which includes overseeing outreach activities across the Brimbank municipality and building positive relationships with diverse stakeholders. As a member of the Library Leadership Team, this position works with other senior staff to reduce barriers to accessing library services, increasing learning and employment opportunities to allow community members to thrive. Hours worked will be allocated across the service and includes weekend and evening work. About You To succeed in this position, you will have a community first approach with: A tertiary qualification acceptable for professional membership (librarian) of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), together with extensive experience in leadership A strong knowledge of contemporary library service delivery and proven experience and high level analytical and conceptual capability Highly developed project management skills, with demonstrated ability to plan, implement, manage and deliver improvement in processes, procedures and policies; Excellent leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate a team in an environment of continuous improvement Demonstrated understanding of reader development principles, and proven ability to work strategically to meet and exceed the expectations of library customers Demonstrated understanding of outreach and community engagement principles in relation to library services. Demonstrated understanding of working within the boundaries of a Local Government style guide with excellent attention to detail Proven communication skills with the ability to influence others and manage conflict Experience working within Local Government is preferred but not mandatory.
