Medical Scientist Grade 1: Part time, Fixed term Location: VIC - Melbourne, CBD & Inner Suburbs Time Type: Part time Posted On: Posted Yesterday Job Requisition ID: JR138617 Job Description: • Excellent benefits including salary packaging • Fitzroy location • Part-time position (40 hours per fortnight) Fixed term until 30/06/2025 • Monday, alternate Tuesday and Friday dayshifts; some weekend, evening and on-call may be required • Work for one of Australia's leading hospital groups About the Role You will assist the Transfusion Laboratory in supporting the Rapid Access Hub.
You will satisfy set learning goals and improve pathology transfusion services with competence in all aspects of Transfusion Science by compliance with relevant current Australian Standards, Legislation and following Haematology department and hospital policies.
You will work in some sections of the Haematology laboratory and be responsible for the processing of specimens according to established laboratory procedures and issuing of results relevant to these specimens.
Classifications for this position will range from RX2-RX7 ($66,908.4 - $89,986 per annum, pro rata).
Your Contribution Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science or equivalent Competence in Immunohaematology and pre-transfusion testing Sound knowledge of clinical haematology and its practical applications Competence in interpreting blood transfusion Competence in haematological results and blood film examination is an advantage Good interpersonal and communication skills Good time management skills Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain What we Offer A focus on wellbeing initiatives, with regular events and programs Confidential, solutions-focused employee counselling A healthy work/life balance encouraged.
