National Director, Regulatory Governance Job no: V14002 Work type: Executive, Fixed Term Full Time Location: Any - Any location, Melbourne Categories: Management/Leadership, Strategy & Policy The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) is the national agency responsible for administering the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (National Scheme) in partnership with 15 National Boards for the regulated health professions.
Ahpra's role is to protect the public by regulating health practitioners efficiently and effectively in the public interest to facilitate access to safer healthcare for all the community.
Reporting to the Executive Director – Strategy, Policy and Health Workforce, the National Director, Regulatory Governance provides leadership in the delivery of strategic governance, regulatory advice, and executive and administrative support that ensures good regulatory governance between National Boards, Ahpra and Accreditation Authorities.
The role is a key member of the leadership team supporting a whole of directorate approach to the delivery of Ahpra's strategic priorities, particularly as they pertain to regulatory governance.
As an Ahpra senior leader, the National Director – Regulatory Governance will be a driver of collaborative ways of working within regulatory governance and across Ahpra based on open and respectful communication.
About you You have strong professional expertise in providing strategic governance, regulatory and policy advice within a complex and national regulatory environment.
The ability to recognise and resolve critical and sensitive issues and provide high level, authoritative advice will require high level communication and leadership skills, ability to liaise, negotiate, consult and manage change at the executive level.
Your key strengths are in your ability to build strong collaborative and productive working relationships and a culture of open communication with Executive Directors, National Directors, National Boards and their committees, including via the Forum of NRAS Chairs as well as delegated decision makers including Chairs of State and Territory Boards and National Committees.
You have led large teams with a high performance and results driven mindset and your experience is in a statutory environment leading strategic regulatory functions (preferably in a national or cross-jurisdictional context).

Key Accountabilities Lead the provision of a high-quality National Boards Secretariat and related governance and regulatory advice to National Boards, their committees and advisory groups.
Oversee the development, management and delivery of the governance program to support Board effectiveness, engagement, and learning and development.
Create a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration and cooperation between and among teams to build the capacity, capability and well-being of the regulatory governance team.
Represent Ahpra at external forums and to government bodies and with other regulators as required.
Some interstate travel will be required.
