The Role Softball Australia is entering a very exciting and critical time, with the powerful Olympic Movement in Australia and region holding significant momentum for the sport as it is confirmed for the 2028 Olympic Games.
The National High Performance Director is to lead the development and execution of the world-class high-performance program that drives the sustained success of the Australian national softball teams on the international stage.
This role involves the strategic planning and oversight of athlete development pathways, coaching excellence, and the integration of cutting-edge sports science and technology.
Additionally, the National High Performance Director will ensure robust collaboration with key stakeholders, including state and territory associations and high-performance staff, to cultivate an environment where athletes can achieve peak performance while upholding the values and objectives of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities Lead the overall Softball Australia High-Performance program and pathway alongside the National Head Coach – Spirit, National Head Coach – Steelers, National Pathways Manager, National Wellbeing and Engagement (W&E) Manager, Performance Support Staff, National Events Coordinator, High Performance Operations Coordinator.
Embrace innovation, creativity, and bravery to drive transformative success and role model a high performance winning mindset.
Support State and National leading athletes and coaches through resource development, program delivery and coach mentoring.
Manage the delivery of Athlete Development components as per the Softball Australia High Performance plan and AIS framework.
Coordinate and deliver national camps aligned with athlete development priorities for the Aussie Spirit / Steelers program.
Serve on the Softball Australia Selectors panel for national representation.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), National Institute Network (NIN), state and territory associations, sponsors, and others as required.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in sports management, sports science, or related field (Essential) Extensive experience in high-performance sports management at a national or international level.
Proven track record in leading and managing high performance programs or pathways.
Expertise in athlete development and talent identification.
Manage, motivate, and inspire all staff, coaches, and athletes.
Proven experience in managing events, projects, and programs.
Experience in strategic planning, execution, and evaluation within a sports context.
Strong financial acumen with experience in budget preparation, management, and financial reporting.
