About the role: Based in Laverton North and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will have the unique opportunity to significantly influence safety standards across our national network of branches and locations. The WHS Manager will support the Branch Managers within the network to ensure they are equipped to champion WHS initiatives locally and in alignment with WHS National Standards.
You will have the ability to foster and maintain positive relationships. The WHS Manager will oversee the development, implementation and continuous improvement of WHS Management to meet both statutory and organisational objectives for Muirs as we Grow forward.
This role will require you to foster a safety-first culture, providing leadership and direction to our Branch Network across multiple sites nationally. Key Accountabilities Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders Provide WHS advice and support to sites across Australia Facilitate a strong culture of awareness within our Branch network and ensure compliance across the Group through the development and delivery of regular training and other awareness initiatives Oversee the ongoing development of safety policies, procedures and learning programs to ensure proper implementation and adoption of WHS processes. Manage compliance with licensing, registration, and certification requirements.
Manage our obligations regarding the importation, transportation, supply, storage and handling of dangerous goods.
Coordinate inspection of the workplace and audit work, as well as health, safety, and environmental procedures. Oversee workers' compensation and manage injury and compliance investigations, in addition to coordinating systems and return-to-work plans.
Oversee post-incident management, Workcover reporting, and procedures, ensuring alignment with the overall risk management.
Skills & Experience Degree or Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) or equivalent You will have a minimum of 5 -7 years experience in a WHS workplace environment Knowledge of and ability to interpret relevant health and safety legislation, including applicable acts, regulations, standards and codes of practice, policies and procedures Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective WHS strategies and initiatives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams Analytical mind and excellent problem-solving skills Ability to analyse information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems Extensive computer skills, including the ability to use MS Word, Power Point, and Excel to an intermediate level to improve business processes Experience in WHS auditing practices and Agsafe auditing is preferable Ability to travel domestically In return, you will enjoy working in a dynamic team environment, where the days are fast-paced, and the company culture is innovative.
