The successful applicant of this position will join a small, motivated team within the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Unit that reports directly to the Senior Policy/Project Advisor.
The CVE Unit works in collaboration with other specialist units within Counter Terrorism Command (CTC), government entities, and third-party providers to provide interventions to individuals who are convicted of terrorism-related offences, hold a violent extremist ideology, or are assessed as being vulnerable to or at risk of radicalising to a violent extremist ideology.
The CVE Unit is a multidisciplinary work unit comprising sworn police members, a senior forensic psychologist, senior analysts, case managers, policy/project officers, and in-house program mentors.
As a Policy/Project Officer, you will be required to work collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to advance the CVE Unit's strategic priorities.
The Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Unit aims to reduce the risk of individuals from becoming or remaining violent extremists and to address the social impacts of violent extremism by undertaking the following activities: Build the resilience of communities to violent extremism.
Support the diversion of individuals at risk of becoming violent extremists when possible.
Establish a coordinated intervention structure that can best identify and support individuals deemed at risk of radicalisation to violent extremism.
Enhance the capacity of Government and non-Government agencies to support and deliver CVE identification and intervention activities.
Develop and maintain highly coordinated prevention, preparedness, and response arrangements in relation to threats and acts of terrorism in Victoria.
Develop programs to prevent terrorism and counter violent extremism in Victoria and lead the Victoria Police's agenda and participation in national and international counter-terrorism forums.
Your duties will include: Preparing policy and project briefs, reports, and plans.
Building and maintaining an awareness of the broader CVE policy and legislative frameworks in order to respond strategically to environmental changes.
Consulting, collaborating, and negotiating with both internal and external stakeholders.
Assisting in the development of policy, strategy, and business case submissions with the objective to capture the full range of effective interventions, including crime prevention, suppression, disruption, and enforcement.
Providing verbal and written advice to senior management using sound judgement.
Providing appropriate assessment of projects, strategies, and policies which involves complex research and analysis relating to the work of the Region/Command/Department.
About You: The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience: Tertiary degree in a relevant field.
Proven experience in the development of policies, legislation, submissions, and/or other strategic documents.
Proven ability to develop/deliver complex projects and implement project outcomes effectively.
Highly developed analytical and written communication skills with an ability to prepare high-level reports, business case submissions, briefs, project plans, and other documents as required.
Proven ability to provide advice to senior management on issues of policy, practice, and strategy.
Proven communication and diplomacy skills and demonstrated ability to build positive stakeholder relationships.
Strategic problem-solving ability.

This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.
To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
