The Institute for Health and Sport (i He S) is one of two Research Institutes at VU.

About the Role: The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will provide academic research excellence in the ARC Discovery Project "Predictive Biomechanics for Modelling Gait Stability and Falls Prediction" within the Institute for Health and Sport.
You will contribute significantly to solving two critical problems in achieving autonomous locomotor control: continuous monitoring of body stability using wearable sensor data and developing predictive models that can accurately predict the probability of instability.
This is a full-time (1 FTE) 36.75 hours per week, three year fixed-term position, at a Research Fellow Level B classification with salary range of $105,662 to $125,473 per annum plus 17% superannuation.
Duties: Undertake quality academic research, typically in collaboration with research students and/or research staff.
Publish papers, articles and reports in high-impact academic journals, including journals, and conference proceedings.
Assist with supervision of research undergraduate/interns, honours, Masters, and Ph D students working on individual or group projects.
Prepare and submit external grant applications, and develop external research collaborations and partnerships.
Attend conferences, workshops and other professional development activities if deemed relevant by the supervisor.
About You: Doctoral qualification in Biomechanics, Engineering, Health Sciences, or related discipline.
Demonstrated record of research achievement and publication in top quartile journals of international standing.
Demonstrated research skills and experience in the design and analysis of human movement experiments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Capacity to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment and contribute to the work of the research team, and external collaborators.
