Our purpose is, Together, deliver Infrastructure for a better tomorrow The Opportunity As a Principal Mechanical Engineer , you will have the opportunity to lead a wide variety of challenging projects.
On any given day you could be providing condition assessment commentary on treatment plants or be part of the design team for a major infrastructure project in Australia or globally.
You'll be a key member of our Water team, who has secured a variety of challenging projects.
This includes supporting Melbourne Water in delivering better outcomes for the industry, community and environment through its latest Engineering Services Panel.

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will plan, schedule, and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
You will perform work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
You will provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.
Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.
As part of our team, you will work with a diverse team of talented people who are committed to supporting our clients through long-term partnership arrangements; not to mention a key contributor to delivering projects.
Our team is also exploring new ways to integrate virtual reality and artificial intelligence on projects, offering you the opportunity to future proof and broaden your skills in the digital sphere.
Who are you? As a Principal Mechanical Engineer in the Water team, you will have extensive experience in the water infrastructure projects.
You have demonstrated experience with design practices for the water & wastewater industrial sectors, as well as condition assessment of treatment plants and mechanical structures.
You will have the following skills and experience: Hold an accredited Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline.
Design experience with knowledge of local water industry standards and local codes.
Proven ability to work in engineering and design modelling teams and manage projects to scope, budget and program.
Previous experience gained within a local engineering consultancy environment.
You are a Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or have eligibility to apply for this accreditation.
