The Sydney Medical School is internationally recognised for research and teaching in health and medicine.

We are seeking an outstanding and visionary Professor of Ophthalmology to join our esteemed Medical School.
This pivotal role is aligned with the strategic movement of the teaching load from the Save Sight Institute into Sydney Medical School, aiming to enhance our commitment to excellence in ophthalmic education and research.
As a Professor of Ophthalmology, you will lead and contribute significantly to both teaching and research in the field.
You will be responsible for the development and delivery of high-quality ophthalmology courses to medical students, as well as the supervision of postgraduate research students.
This role will involve close collaboration with faculty members across the Medical School and the Save Sight Institute, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge research into our educational programs.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record in both teaching and research, with a commitment to advancing ophthalmology through innovative educational practices and impactful research initiatives.
This position is ideal for a visionary academic with a passion for developing the next generation of medical professionals.
About you (skills, capabilities and experience) A Ph.
D.
or equivalent in Ophthalmology or a closely related field.
An internationally recognised research profile in ophthalmology with a track record of securing research funding and publishing in leading journals.
Extensive experience in teaching ophthalmology at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills within an academic setting.
A commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the academic and clinical environments.
Term and remuneration The successful candidate will be offered a continuing part time (26.5 hours/week) role.
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
