Our Organisation
Her Place Women's Museum Australia is a not-for-profit organisation managed by a Board of Directors that celebrates the social, civic, cultural and entrepreneurial achievements of all Australian women and their role in shaping our nation.
The vision for Her Place is to create a public space that honours the achievements of women, through exhibitions, public programs, education resources and an archive.
The Role
Her Place Women's Museum has received funding from the Department of Transport and Planning to expand 'Finding Her' as the historical and cultural resource on Victoria women's achievements for use by the State Government, Geographic Names Victoria, local government, developers, urban and public space designers and community to support gender equitable and culturally sensitive place naming.
Her Place Women's Museum is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Project Manager to lead and manage the 'Her Place Finding Her Hub' initiative. This pilot project aims to establish a sustainable model for the new hub in collaboration with local government and key stakeholders. The Project Manager will work closely with a small, passionate team and the Her Place Board to deliver successful outcomes.
Responsibilities
Project Planning and Management
Develop and implement a detailed project plan to align with partner timelines and milestones.
Ensure the project stays on track, within scope, and on budget.
Regularly report on project progress to the Board's nominated Project Sponsor, Her Place Board and other stakeholders as required.
Prepare and present detailed milestone reports on project outcomes to the Board and stakeholders including project acquittal.
In association with the Board's Project Sponsor, select and engage contractors as required to meet technical, budget and quality requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communications
Build and maintain strong relationships with State and local government partners, community organisations, and other key stakeholders.
Represent Her Place Women's Museum at meetings with key stakeholders.
Collaborate with key stakeholders on a launch event for the 'Her Place Finding Her' Research Hub.
Collaborate with the Her Place Digital Curator on the delivery of a communications and social media plan for approval by the Board of Her Place.
Collaboration and Team Coordination
Collaborate with the nominated Board Project Sponsor to align project goals with the Museum's strategic vision and priorities.
Lead a small project team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Coordinate with team members to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Sustainable Model Development & Website Integration
Develop a client needs survey and conduct a pilot project with identified Local Government Authorities to inform the client-centred gender-based place naming service model.
Develop a scope of work for potential contractors with the requisite expertise and experience to develop a platform to enhance the Her Place website aligning Finding Her and the Research Hub.
Research and develop a sustainable operational fee for service model for the new hub, incorporating best practices and innovative approaches.
Key Selection Criteria
An appropriate tertiary qualification which could include Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies, Project Management, UX Design, Community Development and/or equivalent depth of knowledge and experience.
Proven experience in project management, preferably within the non-profit, cultural, or community sectors.
Strong understanding of user experience design principles, and practices ensuring that digital experiences are user-centred, accessible, and engaging.
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, contracts and resources effectively.
Experience in the development of business models with a focus on sustainability and service delivery.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lead and work within a small team.
Understanding of the Local Government network is highly desirable.
