About The Business Unit
H.M. Prison Langi Kal Kal is a minimum-security men's protection prison located 140km west of Melbourne at Trawalla. The prison's primary purpose is to prepare male prisoners for transition, reintegration, and release. As a working farm with eight separate industries, there is a strong focus on employment, training, and work readiness.
About The Role
The Recreation Officer will assess recreation requirements of general and special needs prisoners to inform development of recreation programs for individuals and groups.
Some Of Your Duties Will Include
Coordinating, facilitating and supervising a range of recreational activities and programs for prisoners providing instruction, coaching, and training
Assessing recreation requirements of general and special needs prisoners to inform development of recreation programs for individuals and groups
Communicating with and giving directions to prisoners in a respectful and motivational manner, responding to prisoner complaints and requests, and providing pro-active assistance and guidance to prisoners as required.
About You
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
Experience developing and delivering passive and active recreation programs
An understanding of the constraints of working within a prison environment
The ability to cooperate and work well with others in pursuit of team goals while sharing information and acknowledging others' efforts and being willing to step in to help others where required.
