Registered Nurse - Community Palliative Care Specialist Position: Registered Nurse Title: Community Palliative Care Specialist (Grade 2) Type: Permanent Part-time (0.7) Hours: 8.30am to 5pm, some on-call (1 in 8 days and weekends may be available at a later date) Purpose: Our purpose is to support people and families to live well each day, despite life-limiting illnesses and treatment regimes, supporting 'moments that matter'. Goulburn Valley Hospice Care Service Inc. (GV Hospice) is an autonomous incorporated community-based palliative care service located in the City of Greater Shepparton. Established in May 1989, GV Hospice has a history of providing community-based specialist palliative care, supported by a strong community foundation. The service provides after-hours on-call, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Vision: Our Vision is to lead, promote and develop excellence in palliative care . Role Overview: The Registered Nurse role will support the clinical team on a day-to-day basis, focusing on supporting clients, staff, and GPs in both community and local Residential Aged Care Facilities. Key Skills Required: Ability to educate and mentor staff providing end-of-life care Ability to undertake "needs rounds" to proactively provide support for residents with life-limiting illnesses and complex symptoms Good organization skills and ability to prioritize workload Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels Initiative and problem-solving skills Ability to work autonomously in a team environment Willingness to undertake post-graduate studies in Palliative Care (funding available) Essential Qualifications and Requirements: Registered Nurse holding current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia An interest in palliative care nursing and willingness to undertake further study Current driver's license for Victoria National Police Record Check – current and satisfactory Successfully meets the pre-employment screening requirements Available to be a part of the on-call component of care on weeknights, weekends, and public holidays Demonstrable knowledge of the philosophy, principles, and practice of palliative care, as well as a sound knowledge of legal and ethical requirements of care (e.g., consent, confidentiality). Strong communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) are essential, along with the ability to problem-solve and make decisions. Candidates must be able to work within a team environment and as part of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement. Competency in the use of information technology (e.g., Microsoft Office and healthcare databases) is also required.
