Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital This program is designed for Registered Nurses wishing to gain exposure in Intensive care. The Introduction to Specialty Practice (ISP), Intensive Care combines clinical exposure with theoretical learning in a supported environment. Registered Nurses who have completed the St John of God Health Care ISP are eligible to apply for 1 credit point for elective unit of study towards relevant diploma qualifications at Deakin University. Program Details: Commencing February 2025 A (6) six month rotation program in Intensive Care Interactive online, learning tutorials and workshops Self-directed learning and assessments Prepare nurses for post graduate study You will be supported by Clinical Educators and Senior Critical Care Nurses in the unit as you care for critically unwell patients following Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Medical, Orthopaedic and patients undergoing complex procedures. The Position Provides direct total patient care to patients to achieve identified outcomes in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures and Care Paths. Demonstrates knowledge of/and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and acknowledges accountability/responsibility for own actions. Maintains and promotes harmonious interpersonal relationships and effective teamwork, between staff, patient, relative, doctors and ancillary staff. Assists and collaborates with team members in the assessment of allocated patients. Communicates effectively with all members of care team and reports changes in patients status to appropriate personnel. Initiates discharge planning on patients admission to ensure appropriate use of all resources and the patient/family are well prepared for discharge. Ensures Infection Management policies and procedures are available to all staff and adhered to and implemented. You will have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and recent clinical experience in an acute care environment. To succeed you will have well developed interpersonal and communication skills, ability to identify and solve problems. We can offer you: Salary: $68,093.58 - $96,175.39 (pro rata for part time), plus 11.5% superannuation 6 month Fixed Term Part Time role, working up to 60 hours a fortnight.
