Registered/Registry Eligible Cardiovascular Technologist - Days (PT) Category: Cardiovascular Technologist and Technician The EKG/EEG technician is responsible for the administration of basic cardiology and neurological exams.
JOB SPECIFIC: Performs echocardiograms (including TEE & intraop.
studies) and vascular studies.
Performs vascular studies.
REGISTRY ELIGIBLE TECHNOLOGISTS MAY NOT PERFORM VASCULAR STUDIES INDEPENDENTLY; a Registered Cardiovascular Technologist possessing a RVT or RVS registry must be present in the room overseeing the exam.
Performs stress echos, TCD's and TCOM's as applicable.
Performs EKG's, stress tests, holter monitoring and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
Covers call as needed; REGISTRY ELIGIBLE TECHNOLOGISTS MAY NOT COVER CALL for Vascular Studies.
Assists with clerical and reception duties.
Completes all documentation associated with aforementioned responsibilities.
Maintains continuing education.
Keeps all areas stocked and neat in appearance, participates in cleaning of equipment.
In absence of Registered Cardiovascular Technologist Supervisor, assumes his/her responsibilities.
Job responsibilities apply to all patient populations including neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric.
Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital's Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital's Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
Performs within his/her professional Scope of Practice at all times.
Required: Graduate of Associate Degree patient care related program (unless registries obtained prior to 2005).
EXPERIENCE Preferred: One year experience, either in training or as a registered cardiovascular tech.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Required: Basic Life Support, ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) Registered in Vascular Technology within 7 months of hire date.
Preferred: ARDMS or CCI Registered in Echocardiography.
