Position Summary: The Specialist, Research and Data Services provides basic research and Research and Data Services to consulting, practice areas, and business function staff.
Frequently works as part of case teams to assist in research planning, information management, and capture of research experience.
Core Responsibilities and Duties: Research Conducts research for case teams, Practice Areas, and client development utilizing electronic, print, and other resources as assigned under the guidance of a Senior Specialist, Lead, Manager, or Senior Manager.
Provides filtered and well-organized research results.
May participate as a member of an Industry Team to support cases and responds to requests from client teams, and should build experience in conducting research in all areas of interest to Bain.
Proactively works with Case Teams to understand the project context and specific information needs.
May build industry expertise by attending Practice Area meetings, industry conferences, and regular reading of industry trade publications.
Solicits feedback from internal clients.
Asset Building Participates in asset building projects including contributions to knowledge sharing and other projects as assigned.
May participate as a member of an Industry Team.
Participates in ongoing product and service evaluations and resource development activities and participates in implementation as appropriate.
Conducts just-in-time training for consulting and consulting support staff.
Administrative Daily tracking of personal research requests including cost recovery information.
Participates in Research and Data Services marketing efforts.
Proactively seeks opportunities to broaden and deepen skill set by participating in special projects.
Provides ongoing support for basic asset-building activities including processing orders and new acquisitions, cataloging and serials check-in, end-user system updates, tracking circulation of materials from the collection, and ongoing maintenance of print and other special collections.
Processes invoices.
Position Qualifications: Degree in Economics or Finance from an accredited university (others are accepted).
2 – 4 years of conducting business research in a fast-paced consulting, financial services, or other business setting or equivalent preferred.
Basic experience with Factiva, Thomson databases, and other standard business research tools preferred.
Some training and presentation skills.
Fluent written and verbal communication skills in native language and English required.
