Alia College is currently seeking part time secondary teachers for a, part-time, 12 month fixed term maternity leave replacement position, commencing Term One, 2025, in the following areas: Year 7-8 Science VCE Unit 1 & 2 Biology VCE Unit 3 & 4 Biology Alternative subjects are also possible. Alia College is a small, dynamic, alternative, co-educational secondary school in Hawthorn East and is sometimes described as progressive, or democratic. At Alia College class sizes are generally small, teachers and students are on first name basis and Teachers shape the curriculum and work closely with students in the classroom. The successful applicant is expected to have: a sound knowledge of the science courses listed above, a dynamic and flexible approach to engaging students'interests and energies and be willing to potentially think outside the box when working with students, a willingness to engage in aspects of Alia outside regular classes, such as excursions, presentation nights, camps, homeroom & whole-school meetings, information sessions, etc. a demonstrated ability to work effectively and contribute to the wellbeing of students and/or an understanding of Victorian Child Safe Standards, a current VIT registration, or be eligible to apply for Permission To Teach (PTT). The prospective candidate is expected to: have an understand and apply the School's child safety policies and procedures, including identifying and reporting risks, recognising child abuse indicators, and fulfilling internal and external reporting obligations. take all practicable measures to protect students where a risk to their safety has been identified. complete child safety, anaphylaxis management, and other relevant training and induction programs.
