Department: Department of Families, Fairness and Housing THE ROLE The Senior Adviser for East Aboriginal Partnerships and Practice, Aboriginal Self-determination and Outcomes Division contributes significantly to the strategic direction of DFFH by providing earlier and more connected support.
The primary objective of this position aims to enhance the well-being of Aboriginal individuals, families and communities through the development of engagement opportunities for social and economic participation.
The position will drive outcomes for Aboriginal individuals and families to build better lives and achieve their potential through localized solutions and participation in the community and economy.
The role focuses on leading the delivery of agreed key projects and initiatives, in partnership with community, inter-sectoral and whole-of-government stakeholders and staff, continuous service monitoring, models of service delivery and a focus on innovative approaches to greater Aboriginal health, community and social welfare.
The role will partner with Aboriginal community and Aboriginal agencies and the broader sector to ensure self-determined outcomes for local communities.
This includes enacting place-based approaches which consider the unique characteristics and interactions of people and place when designing and implementing interventions and or investment in a given location or community.
This position will play a critical role in supporting the development of community engagement strategies that align with the broader goal of self-determination.
By doing so, the Adviser will help to create opportunities for Aboriginal individuals and communities to take control of their lives and make decisions that benefit them.
Through these efforts, the Senior Adviser will contribute to building more robust, self-sufficient communities better equipped to meet their challenges.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE Provide authoritative advice on policies, programs and plans to a wide range of stakeholders including Aboriginal communities, service provider organisations and other government agencies.
Manage stakeholder and community relationships to enable collaboration essential to achieving DFFH objectives in relation to self-determined Aboriginal communities and people.
Identify opportunities for improving service quality and evidence-based service models through effective consultation with key Aboriginal communities, stakeholders and organisations.
COVID-19 VACCINATION The department strongly recommends (but does not mandate) that employees maintain their COVID-19 vaccination status in accordance with current ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation) advice , given their individual circumstances.
As of June 2023, DFFH does not require evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status.
