Your New Role Reporting to the Manager, Innovation & Application Engineering, the Senior Application Engineer is a technical specialist role focusing on developing, optimising, and productionising business-driven applications across multiple teams and projects.
This role will involve a high degree of business engagement, technical governance, application engineering, solution design and development of engineering patterns, as well as operational management of the solutions delivered.
The role will champion continuous improvement to ensure technology artefacts remain current.
The role will have a high degree of working collaboratively with other Technology Services colleagues, including architects, engineers, and delivery teams.
Key duties include but are not limited to: Manage delivery and strong collaboration with stakeholders, business users, citizen developers, and others to contribute to developing quality solutions aligned to target architecture and best practices.
Senior contributor to controlled programs and sprints with relevant technical/business owners to ensure the rapid deployment, testing, and continuous improvement of engineered applications.
Contribute to workshops and learning activities towards building application engineering capability across the team, groups, and domains (virtually and in person).
Coach and mentor team members and continually develop others where practicable to build capability and adapting a shared development and innovation process, tools and language.
Act as an escalation point when required and where resolution of a high priority issue is needed, including support outside of normal business hours on occasion.
Where relevant, ensure vendors align to Australian Super operational processes, policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Strong contribution for the application engineering team to operate and make decisions according to the Fund's Policies, Standards and Procedures and the Fund's Key Decision Registers and the delegated authorities.
Ensure appropriate and relevant governance structures, policies and processes are followed, and advocate for continuous improvement to these.
What You'll Need: Degree in Computer Science or related area or equivalent industry experience 10+ years of Technology experience.
5+ years of application development experience.
Experience working on projects in financial institutions or other regulated environments is highly desirable.
Experience in delivering solutions whilst working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience managing multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously with conflicting priorities.
Experience in implementing solutions with the following: Microsoft stack-based technologies including Azure services,.
Net and SQL capabilities.
Programming and scripting languages, including React.js, Python and Java Script.
Experience in design thinking or architectural frameworks.
Communication and presentation skills, as well as experience presenting or demoing to an audience.
Experience with Agile methodology, start-up frameworks, and Lean IT.
Experience in ITIL and Dev Ops processes, especially in release and change management.
