The role: We are currently searching for a Senior Associate to join our national leasing team. The role is based in Melbourne with a focus on streamed leasing matters. The span of work involves commercial, retail and telco leasing work, including acting for both tenants and landlords, and preparing leases and lease related documents (assignments, variations, renewals, surrenders and the like). This role will assist in providing supervision and guidance to paralegals and junior lawyers and will be a key member of the team. The leasing practice is national and the successful candidate will develop knowledge of the requirements (the legislation governing leases and their registration) for all jurisdictions in Australia. Our clients include publicly listed companies, property managers, shopping centre and other property owners and government agencies, as well as leading corporates across a number of sectors. Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will have pre-existing experience with leases and lease related transactions. Key skills are an eye for detail, good drafting skills, the ability to work in a fast paced environment and to fixed deadlines, and an ability to handle a high volume of files. Good communication and people skills are an advantage. Strong technical skills with exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail are essential. You will also have a commitment to building strong client relationships, assisting with the development of paralegals and more junior lawyers and delivering quality and value that contributes to the growth of our leasing unit.
