Orygen Specialist Program Melbourne Contract 30/10/2024 Full time, 2 year fixed term opportunity | Salary Packaging + ADOs Based in Parkville with some travel to Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct Excellent team culture, training, supervision and prof dev opportunities Your new team Forming part of the Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS) team provides specialist youth mental health care in custodial settings (Parkville and Cherry Creek sites) to young people and their families/carers. Custodial FYMHS is in an exciting period of significant growth as a result of the Royal Commission and evolution of Victorian Mental Health Services. Our specialist multidisciplinary team provide enhanced services to young people in custody, with a focus on recovery-oriented care. Your new role Join us in a newly created specialist role supporting the expansion of the specialist team within Custodial FYMHS. We are excited to welcome an enthusiastic, passionate and experienced Senior Career Specialist to play a crucial role in enhancing the vocational assistance provided to young people in custody who are presenting with mental illness. Feel supported as you work amongst a passionate, inclusive and supportive multidisciplinary team and have access to regular professional development (internal & external), reflective practice and supervision. In this role, you will:Provide support in establishment and evaluation of a comprehensive trauma-informed career consultation service within FYMHS Focus on helping young people achieve and maintain suitable and sustainable employment and develop relationships that foster hope and optimism. Coordinate the development and implementation of career consultation with young people to enhance transition supports either to community or adult custody Be based across Parkville & Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precincts. As such, travel to the workplace destination can be included within the working hours. About You:Post-graduate qualification in Career Development, Career Education or relevant discipline Comprehensive experience providing career counselling and pathway planning to young people in youth mental health services Knowledge of the youth justice and/or criminal justice system and other relevant settings is desirable.
