The Senior Clinician will also provide day-to-day support to the other mental health clinicians in the North West Melbourne Primary Health Network Referral and Access team through rostering, allocation of daily tasks, problem solving, debriefing and promoting best practice. You will work closely with the Senior Administrator to ensure efficient and effective processes for referral allocation. You will be expected to have a thorough understanding of all relevant policies and processes and support the rest of the team to follow them. You will play a key role in developing a supportive and respectful team culture that upholds the values of the organisation and puts the needs of individuals seeking care at the center of all decisions. About Us We are North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN), Victoria's largest independent, locally governed and run, not-for-profit PHN, dedicated to improving primary health care in our community. What are PHNs? PHNs have been established with two key objectives: increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of services for community members, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes improving coordination of care to ensure people receive the right care in the right place, at the right time A typical week may include: Support the Lead, Mental Health Referral and Access in the day-to-day management of the Referral and Access team, ensuring that processes and policies are adhered to. Support referral decision making and risk management within the team and proactively identify and escalate risks and issues to the Lead, Mental Health Referral and Access Use well developed assessment skills, and the IAR-DST, to inform the allocation of consumers to the most clinically appropriate service and facilitate warm referrals to external services under the 'No Wrong Door' philosophy. Record relevant data and information, including IAR scores and appropriate contextual information. Respond in a timely manner to phone calls and e-alerts from people seeking assistance, or their referrers, ensuring best practice approaches are safe and inclusive including for people from diverse backgrounds (including Aboriginal peoples, Culturally and Linguistically diverse people; LGBTIQ peoples). We are looking for someone who has: Tertiary qualification in a clinical health related field and registration with the relevant board or eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association e.g., psychologist, Mental Health Social Worker (Mental Health Accredited), Mental Health Nurse or Occupational Therapy. Minimum 5 years' clinical mental health experience. Experience in providing support and coordination to clinical teams. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of mental health disorders. Experience in undertaking mental health assessments and screening of people seeking mental health supports. Knowledge and understanding of contemporary mental health treatment for clients, and of service support to families/carers. Understanding of the mental health service system and ability to navigate service options for consumers presenting with a range of different issues and complexities. Ability to use IT software and knowledge of common medical practice programs utilised by the NWMPHN programs. What's in it for you?
