In partnership between the Victorian Government and Transurban, the Westgate Tunnel (WGT) project is a major infrastructure project that is integral for Melbourne.
Its delivery will play a major part in addressing some of Melbourne's biggest growth, transport and liveability challenges by providing road-users with a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge, additional lanes and smart technology on Melbourne's critical M1 corridor.
As the Senior Commercial Manager for the Westgate Tunnel Project (WGT), you'll assist the Commercial Director and support the broader project team with all commercial aspects to ensure the project's successful delivery.
This is a key role and requires active interactions with the D&C Subcontractor and the Client; therefore, opportunities to work remotely will be limited to 1-2 days per week.
The impact you will have: You'll lead the contracts team and manage all contractual and commercial aspects of the project, including contract administration, claims mitigation, and compliance to ensure adherence and conformance of contract delivery requirements and best practice governance.
You'll understand contract ramifications and draw on your own strategic and commercial thinking to run short, medium and long-term strategies.
You'll employ a proactive risk management approach to identify and anticipate current and potential risks, input them into ARM, develop risk mitigation strategies as required, and attend project risk meetings.
You'll contribute to and review project reporting and financial management as required, including Project Flash Reports, Board papers, Project Steering Committee Reports, payment claims, and business cases and presentations to internal stakeholders on project commercial matters as required.
You'll work closely with the Completions stream to achieve Project Completion.
Using a relationship-driven approach, you'll work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
The talents you will bring: You're an experienced Senior Commercial Manager (or similar) and you've managed the Principal-Contractor relationship together with downstream contracts.
You have experience delivering on major infrastructure projects working with either private or government sectors, you understand the 'PPP' model, and you possess a strong project management skill set.
You can read and understand complex commercial contracts and interpret and apply legislation for effective business outcomes and a completions process.
You're commercially astute with a proactive approach to managing risk, with experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, understanding and interpreting detailed construction contracts, commercial terms, and financial data.
You have a strong understanding of contracts together with the initiative to seek timely advice on technical and operational perspectives from both internal and external sources to ensure the most favourable commercial outcome.
A natural relationship-builder and communicator, you can engage, influence, and collaborate effectively and tactfully, even in challenging circumstances.
You possess excellent written, numerical, and verbal skills to effectively communicate with senior management, contractors, and customers.
If you meet a number of the requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.
Start changing the world around you.
