What you'd be doing in this role As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA.
This role is focused on: Designing, developing, and deploying solutions and hands-on software development – working closely with leads, designers, and product managers to deliver features and experiments to our customers worldwide.
Primarily working on web frontend with Typescript, but may need to work with other languages and environments.
Facilitating knowledge sharing and advocating for engineering needs to non-technical team members within the group.
Modeling initiative and ownership in achieving goals, improving processes, and solutions.
Finding opportunities for cross-team collaboration to work on new insights and improvements that help achieve our goals.
You're probably a match if you have Experience in making products more accessible, especially in a visual communications context.
Ability to define and champion best practices across the company.
Skills to navigate an ever-growing startup environment and teach others about improving accessibility with the tools built.
About the Team We want to be the most-accessible design tool in the world – with strong sustained internal support from leadership and core product teams, our Accessibility Teams are set to achieve this mission.
Imagine being able to confidently use a design tool to make a beautiful design without seeing it.
About the Role You'll get hands-on experience writing reusable, well-architected code and technical documentation to build accessible user experiences, most prominently within the core editor experience.
You'll have the opportunity to own and improve core packages within the Editor, and to make improvements that allow us to scale to 1 B users.
You'll be a frontend technical leader within a team of 7 engineers, promoting a culture of mentoring, feedback, and quality.
