An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Merchandise Planner to join a dynamic team at Unison.
Reporting to the GM of Merchandise Planning, this role will be responsible for the development and management of merchandise budgets, forecasts, and the establishment of gridding/store profiling and option assortment plans to effectively trade the business across all channels.
This role requires a proactive approach to trading the business, ensuring the on-time delivery of goods, and achieving all related KPIs.
THE ROLE: Prepare and manage merchandise plans for the season by region.
Conduct monthly forecast reviews, updating sales, stocks, markdowns, margin, and gross profit.
Manage OTB (Open-to-Buy) at class, category, and option levels.
Manage class and category budgets, providing ongoing analysis.
Perform closing stock analysis, focusing on aged and current stock.
Attend monthly buys, providing plans for OTB, options needed, and quantification.
Establish, update, and monitor grids/profiles by store/department through ongoing and seasonal analysis.
Liaise with the warehouse to ensure smooth stock allocation to stores, meeting setup deadlines.
Ensure allocations meet advertising needs across all stores.
Perform post-seasonal analysis by class, category, and style, including color and story analysis.
Provide markdown recommendations through detailed markdown analysis.
Collaborate with the manager and team on store needs and manage stock movement in/out of state.
Ensure the accuracy and correctness of management reports.
On-site role 5-days per week, based in our St Kilda Road offices.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: Minimum 3-5 years' experience in merchandise planning within a retail environment.
Prior experience with relevant planning tools such as Retek, D365, or similar.
A relevant tertiary or equivalent qualification in Finance, Commerce, or Business.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Strong forecasting and financial management abilities.
Commercial acumen with an understanding of market trends and store demands.
Proficiency in all MS Office programs, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
Ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and work under pressure.
Solution-oriented thinking with high attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
