THE ROLE
The Senior Occupational Health & Safety Lead will be an OH&S specialist and a member of the Housing, Compliance, Safety & Incident Management team. The role involves:
Conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification for Homes Victoria assets, ensuring the safety, liveability, and sustainability of assets and tenancies while focusing on health, safety, and wellbeing, RTA compliance, incident management, and contractor management.
Promoting a culture of initiative and innovation, improving safety practices, and seeking new ways to enhance service delivery.
Developing and updating safety procedures and plans, implementing health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance processes.
Managing project scope changes, identifying risks, and developing mitigation strategies; and preparing and presenting regular safety reports to management.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
Conduct asset and contractor safety audits that assist with hazard identification, risk assessments, implementation of injury prevention programs and control measures to ensure accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
Develop and update safety procedures, guidelines, and safety plans identifying risks and developing associated mitigation strategies.
Provide advice, support, and training on safety procedures.
Perform regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
COVID-19 VACCINATION
The department strongly recommends (but does not mandate) that employees maintain their COVID-19 vaccination status in accordance with current
ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation) advice , given their individual circumstances. As of June 2023, DFFH does not require evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status.
