You will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team working closely with regions, central program areas and external stakeholders to support the department's place-based initiatives, including education plans.
The School Provision and Establishment Division within the Schools and Regional Services Group is responsible for place-based initiatives.
These initiatives bring together groups of schools and their local communities to understand, and respond to, complex barriers to educational achievement.
The department's aim for place-based initiatives is to drive improved outcomes for young people and their communities.
The Senior Policy Advisor will play a leading role contributing to these initiatives by providing advice about place-based initiatives to influence planning and implementation and collaborate and manage highly effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About the School Provision and Establishment Division The School Provision and Establishment Division is part of the Schools and Regional Services Group.
The division's responsibilities include planning to meet Victoria's growing student population and providing end-to-end support for establishing new schools, administering school reorganisations and delivery of place-based initiatives.
About the Role The Place-based Initiatives Unit contributes to the broader goals of the Department by facilitating the implementation of the place-based initiatives program – comprising the Our Place model and Education Plans – in selected communities in Victoria.
This program supplements the Department's system-level school support programs by implementing tailored strategies to improve student outcomes based on the needs of schools and their communities.
The Senior Policy Advisor will be a key member of the Place-based Initiatives Unit with responsibility to: provide authoritative advice about place-based initiatives to influence planning and implementation (including opportunities for reform) collaborate and manage highly effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify and leverage opportunities to improve the design and implementation of place-based initiatives lead the design and implementation of evaluation, monitoring and reporting activities, including development of reporting artefacts for a range of audiences support governance to provide strategic oversight and decision-making for the place-based program, lead the development and review of Department policy and guidance, and provide advice and support to regions for effective implementation prepare executive and Ministerial correspondence, briefings, submissions, reports and papers relating to the place-based initiatives work program and other duties as required to contribute to branch culture, strategy and business planning activities About You In addition to the key selection criteria, please find below some key attributes that will be needed to be successful in this role: Demonstrated conceptual and analytical abilities, and ability to deliver high quality work.
Demonstrated understanding of program design and implementation.
Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
Curious, with a continuous improvement mindset and with a passion for learning and working as part of a team.
