About the role The Senior Project Engineer (Development) - Track and Civil is responsible for overseeing the development phases of Track and Civil projects within V/Line's Major Periodic Maintenance (MPM) Program.
This role ensures that projects are planned and executed in accordance with V/Line's Design Management Procedure and MPM Framework requirements, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the rail network.
Key Responsibilities: Provide engineering and project management support for the planning and development of the MPM Program.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and develop cost-effective solutions.
Conduct site investigations and coordinate various assessments to support project development.
Offer technical advice and support to project managers and team members.
Ensure design works align with V/Line's procedures and manage Safety in Design (Si D) workshops.
Prepare and manage project documentation, including Change Requests and approvals.
Collaborate with Asset Planning Engineers and participate in lessons learned workshops.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following: Engineering Expertise: A tertiary qualification in Engineering, with a deep understanding of railway track maintenance, renewal, and civil design.
Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to apply project and program management principles, methods, and techniques effectively.
Stakeholder Management: Proven experience working with multiple business stakeholders within a cross-functional and complex matrix environment, including government agencies.
Technical Proficiency: Experience in the design and delivery of railway projects, including estimating and costing, and familiarity with Safety in Design (Si D) processes.
Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of compliance requirements, including environmental and heritage approvals, and the ability to manage these within specified timeframes.
Autonomous and Collaborative Work: Ability to work independently while also collaborating across multiple areas to achieve common business objectives.
Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Flexibility to respond to changing project dynamics and identify innovative solutions to maintain progress and achieve objectives.
Safety and Risk Management: Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment through effective risk identification, understanding, and management.
Demonstrated alignment to V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Engineering, preferably Civil, Mechanical, Railway or similar.
Valid Driver's Licence Desirable Formal qualifications in project management at a vocational or tertiary education level suitable for accreditation in Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM).
Level 1 Train Track Safety Awareness (TTSA) / Personal Track Safety; willingness to obtain one.
