Contribute to meaningful project for a passionate, well renowned, and collegiate team Full – time, fixed term for 12 months with opportunity of extension Base salary of $108,557 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The Senior Project Officer will primarily provide project management advice and operational support to the Head of the Sleep Research Group, Charles Perkins Centre, University of Sydney.
The Senior Project Officer is broadly responsible for providing project management support and administration to a work stream within a multi-faceted program of work, including coordination of developing and implementing research and operational plans, managing project financials, preparation of grant applications and ethics submissions and preparing status reports in line with broader project governance requirements.
The incumbent will manage national and international stakeholders and communications, ensuring effective collaboration and teamwork with other project teams and stakeholders across the University and with national and international collaborators.
A key focus of the role is the Sydney Sleep Biobank (SSB), for which the Senior Project Officer coordinates the implementation and delivery of a broad range of activities and tasks such as ethical and governance approval, processes for the collection and storage of biological samples and patient/stakeholder relationship management.
By supporting the overall running of the SSB as well as developing project plans and status reports in line with project governance requirements, the role ensures that milestones and deliverables are met.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Provide expert advice to sites in the set-up phase on matters such as operating procedures, study processes, obtaining ethical and governance approval, and planning.
Manage the development and implementation of multiple work stream project plans to meet overarching project objectives.
Coordinate compliance with ethics guidelines and standards and WHS requirements.
Oversee biospecimen collection, processing and storage.
Implement project governance and reporting procedures to monitor project delivery.
Build relationships and manage project communications with project's various stakeholders.
Provide financial management support to the Principal Investigator.
Undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
About you Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Management qualifications or equivalent management experience.
Experience managing a diverse group of key internal/external stakeholders on large or complex projects.
Experience project managing multiple work streams, or leading large complex projects and ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands.
Previous experience in the higher education/tertiary sector or hospital context, or at a complex, multi-faceted organization.
Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and ability to work independently with a focus on attaining optimal outcomes.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills in dealing with day-to-day operational matters.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritize workload during busy periods.
