We are currently seeking a Senior Regional Planner for a state government department in Melbourne on a 2-month temporary contract with full-time hours. This role will be based at the regional office in Traralgon with hybrid working arrangements. This role is responsible for providing statutory services to deliver the Minister for Planning's responsibilities in relation to the assessment of planning scheme amendments and other requirements of planning legislation and instruments. Key Responsibilities: Promote and guide the implementation of state planning policy through local planning schemes and regular discussions with local government including technical drafting advice for amendments and related planning matters. Deliver the Minister for Planning's statutory responsibilities in the assessment of requests for authorisation and approval of council-led planning scheme amendments including exercising statutory delegation. Process all planning scheme amendment documentation and notices, including publishing exhibition and gazette notices, updating online planning scheme and amendment content, and distributing the Planning Matters newsletter. Qualifications and Experience: A relevant tertiary qualification in land use planning or related field. Demonstrated experience in, and knowledge of, the Victorian planning system, and statutory and strategic land use planning within a metropolitan and regional planning context in Victoria. Experience in assessing complex and/or strategically significant development proposals and/or planning scheme amendments would be highly regarded.
