About the Role Technology plays a critical role in the delivery of AGL's strategy, helping our customers decarbonise the way they live, move and work and transitioning our generation portfolio.
We have a new opportunity for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Integrated Energy Technology function.
In this role, you'll work cross-functionally with product owners, delivery leads, technical leads and cloud services teams.
You will be responsible for devising engineering solutions to operational issues, requiring a hands-on and technical approach.
As a senior engineer, you will coach and mentor engineers across SRE and delivery teams and advocate for reliability methodologies and practices.
You'll work with cloud-native systems primarily built on.
NET and running on Azure, with exposure to Terraform and Azure Dev Ops.
What you'll be doing Work with development teams to ensure continuous delivery processes are used to ensure applications are safely deployed and supported.
Work closely with our Site Reliability Engineering Lead to improve workflow efficiency.
Support our ongoing efforts to standardise our observability, drive adoption of reliability practices, streamline our deployment process, and champion a 'configuration as code' philosophy across AGL.
Work with business stakeholders to expand the use of SLIs and SLOs to manage key trading and portfolio systems.
Support and coach developers and SRE team members.
System design consultation.
Enhance CI/CD pipelines to ensure safer deployments and system monitoring and observability practices.
Maintain a clean infrastructure and tooling environment with no resource waste.
Leverage engineering practices to reduce toil through automation and other SRE practices.
Build operational dashboards and alert systems to drive down MTTR.
Conduct regular disaster recovery exercises to test our ability to recover from a catastrophic failure.
Operational support, including on-call through rotating roster.
About You Strong experience in an SRE role or Dev Ops experience with an interest in SRE.
Strong understanding of SRE principles and best practices.
A passion for mentoring and experience guiding engineers.
Experience working with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
Comfortable with most of the following: C# (or strong proficiency in an equivalent programming language), Power Shell, Docker, Kubernetes, Apache Spark, Azure AD, AD, Networking, Power BI, Terraform, Azure Dev Ops.
Solid understanding and experience in agile delivery methodologies.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Technical leadership experience in a SRE role is strongly desired.
