Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Structural Engineer located in Torquay, VIC.
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be expected to work relatively independently within our team to deliver a wide range of structural engineering projects on time and within budget.
To be considered for this position applicants should have the following minimum qualifications and experience: A Bachelor Degree in Engineering - Civil, Structural or a or a proven equivalent.
6 + years minimum structural engineering experience with a minimum of 2 years working in Australian low rise domestic residential housing construction design (predominantly Class 1 A structures).
Experience in small to medium commercial and retail design.
Good knowledge of engineering design to first principles, residential slab and footing design, precast or tilt-up panel design, timber design including residential framing design, steel design, concrete design to relevant Australian Standards.
Excellent communication skills with ability to reflect design intent on drawings with practical and complete construction details.
Have experience in design of stormwater systems for multi-unit and detached dwelling residential properties.
Have a working knowledge and experience in the following engineering software: -Multiframe, Spacegass or similar (essential) -SLOG or CORD (bonus) -Autocad or Bricscad (essential) -Rapt (preferred) -RAM Concept, Inducta or similar (preferred) Have a current Australian drivers license.
(essential) Have a strong understanding of the Building Code of Australia and all relevant design Standards.
(essential) The applicant will also have the following attributes; Must have a service focused attitude and be responsive to clients.
The ability to liaise directly with professionals and builders.
Have time management skills capable of successfully delivering a number of projects concurrently.
Have excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Have knowledge and understanding of the Australian domestic house building and construction industry to be able to offer cost effective designs to our clients and be able to offer alternative solutions when necessary.
Be capable of producing computations that are succinct but formatted so other engineers can follow as part of a QA regime.
Have good computer skills and a good knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook.
Happy to take instruction from principals on all design and project delivery matters.
