Yarrabah School caters for students aged between 2.8 and 18 years who have a diagnosed intellectual disability ranging from moderate to profound. Purpose: Yarrabah's purpose is to provide an individualised and safe student-centred learning environment that promotes active learning and encourages adventure, independence and self-esteem maximising student potential. Selection Criteria Demonstrated experience in assessing, conceptualising and analysing mental health and well-being concerns. Demonstrate experience providing evidence-based interventions for students or their families with complex needs, including knowledge of trauma informed approaches. Work with young people and their families within a multidisciplinary team to build the capacity of students to improve their wellbeing and mental health. Ability to provide professional learning which informs and influences the work of others involved in the engagement and well-being of children and young people. Excellent communication and problem solving skills encompassing interpersonal, verbal and written and negotiation skills. Demonstrated experience working within a care management framework or referral system to manage time. Role Deliver professional support services in the school, including direct counselling for students with various well-being and mental health issues. Plan and implement evidence-based intervention strategies for students with complex needs including collaborating with families, school staff, other professionals and agencies when appropriate, and manage the associated risks. Conduct individual assessments for students with a range of complex needs as requested by the Principal or their delegate. Responsibilities Deliver professional support service/s at Yarrabah school, including direct counselling and risk assessments for students with a range of well-being and mental health issues. Work collaboratively with the school Wellbeing Team under the guidance of the Wellbeing co-ordinator and contribute to policies and operational practices that will guide the work of others. Provide evidence-based intervention strategies for students with complex needs including collaborating and working with families, other professionals and agencies when appropriate, and manage the associated risks. Who May Apply Required Applicants must: Hold a Bachelor qualification or specialist/postgraduate qualification where applicable in Social Work or Related tertiary qualification. Have demonstrated direct counselling experience. Have a current Working With Children Check.
