The companyThe Port of Hastings Corporation (the Port) is responsible for managing the landside port operations at the Port of Hastings, including the maintenance and development of the associated port infrastructure. They are committed to the Port being a safe and vibrant deep-water port and ensuring its sustainable long-term development, recognising the Port is located within an area of international ecological significance.
The Port of Hastings has been selected by the Victorian Government as the location for the establishment of the Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal - a dedicated assembly port to support the construction of Victoria's first offshore wind farms in Bass Strait. The Victorian Government has identified the Terminal as critical to supporting the state's ambitious offshore wind generation targets and achieving net zero emissions by 2045.
The roleThe position will work closely with the Project Director of the Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal (VRET) and Port of Hastings' management team to advise of stakeholder issues and recommend strategies and solutions. You will be managing the engagement process of the VRET and through this project, build long-term relationships with the Port's community stakeholders.
In this role you will:
Develop and implement effective stakeholder relations and communications strategies.Manage stakeholder and community engagement consultants to ensure successful delivery of the engagement program for the VRET.Provide communications and stakeholder engagement expertise to the Project Delivery team, CEO, and the management team.Provide advice regarding stakeholder issues and recommend strategies and solutions.Collaborate closely with the project team and lead and mentor the stakeholder and community engagement team.Develop, implement, and manage key processes essential to building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.Develop a variety of engagement and communication materials for various mediums and audiences.About youYou thrive in an environment where your actions ensure that the company and the community remain in sync. With demonstrated experience working in stakeholder and community engagement processes associated with complex technical and regulatory issues, you will possess:
Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism, social sciences, community development, social planning or equivalent.Experience in managing public consultation through the EES approvals process or large-scale infrastructure projects is preferred.Experience in managing challenging community dynamics and conversations.Exceptional time management and planning skills.Appreciation of statutory planning and approvals process of major infrastructure projects.Strong relationship building/ management skills across a range of stakeholder types.The rewardsThis is an amazing opportunity to play a key role in unlocking the offshore wind industry in Victoria.
