Role Overview The Support Data Engineer is key to the smooth operation of MUFG Retirement solutions business client and internal reporting systems.
The role will handle failures in production systems and proactively work to ensure stability and improved performance of those systems.
The role requires someone who is a great problem solver, adaptable to new systems, is calm and efficient under pressure, and can balance quick wins and long-term strategic interventions.
Exciting opportunity to join our fast-paced ever-growing Technology team at MUFG Retirement Solutions business within Data Domain.
Permanent role - can be based in Melbourne CBD or Parramatta office.
Key Accountabilities and Main Responsibilities Timely, efficient, and high-quality investigation and resolution of high impact issues to ensure smooth ongoing operation of the Data and Analytics reporting systems.
Strong attention to detail and advanced problem-solving skills, ability to diagnose technical problems and develop solutions for them.
Investigate bugs, root cause analysis, tune queries, peer review and document investigations and solutions and triage incidents.
Experience creating and working with Knowledge Base documentation.
Strong foundation in troubleshooting.
On-call support 24x7 on a rostered basis.
Communicate effectively with key stakeholders.
Ability to act as a good team player and able to mentor colleagues.
Consistently follows MUFG's policies and procedures.
Follows and identifies improvements in team's procedures with a high awareness of Information Security.
Experience & Personal Attributes 5+ years of experience as a Data/Analytics Engineer with AWS/Snowflake.
1-2 years of experience with Database Techniques and tools.
Proficient in using Snowflake's features such as Snowpipes, Streams, and Tasks.
Strong programming skills in SQL and Python.
Solid understanding and working knowledge of Data Warehousing and data management processes and concepts.
Quickly judge the impact of failures and bugs, and triage appropriately.
Ability to create and maintain process documentation that is easy to follow.
Cloud data migration experience within large organizations is desirable.
Good understanding of Agile delivery methodology and ability to adapt to change.
Ability to problem-solve technical issues and provide timely, practical, and robust solutions.
Ability to effectively communicate with business stakeholders and technical leadership groups.
Ability to communicate clearly and ask targeted questions to gain required knowledge and confirm requirements.
Experience using the following applications is desirable: Control-M, Jira, Service Now.
