Public Sector People are working with a council in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs to recruit a Band 6 level Traffic Engineer to join their experienced and supportive team.
You will be responsible for responding to enquiries relating to traffic management, road usage, parking restrictions, line marking and general technical enquiries, reviewing consultant reports on traffic matters, identifying issues for resolutions and undertake investigations in support of traffic related policy development.
This will be a contract role for an initial 6 months, with for opportunity extension.
Responsibilities and Experience for this role: Provide technical traffic engineering advice and assistance in the delivery of Council's Capital Works Projects.
Engage and manage suitable consultants effectively in regard to timeframes and quality outcomes.
Prepare project briefs, review consultant reports on traffic matters, identify issues for resolution and liaise with the consultants.
Review and check Construction Management Plans.
The ideal candidate will have: Tertiary qualified in Engineering, eligible for membership of Engineers Australia or equivalent is essential.
Substantial experience is required, including experience in the delivery of traffic engineering services.
An understanding and knowledge of Local Government Legislation and procedures would be an advantage.
Sound communication skills both written and verbal.
Drivers Licence valid in Victoria.
Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office, MS Project, Auto CAD, GIS systems, SIDRA and related software is preferred.
