Employment Status: Full-time, permanent Hours: 35-hour work week Location: Victoria, BC Posting: External — applications accepted only by email (see below) Job duties BCAAFC's Provincial Aboriginal Youth Council – coordinates all aspects of the Provincial Aboriginal Youth Council (PAYC) meetings and serves as the secretariat for PAYC, including: Coordinating updates to the terms of reference.
Co-chairing/stewarding PAYC meetings in a mentorship role.
Supporting PAYC members in planning the agenda for meetings.
Serving as the liaison between BCAAFC staff and PAYC.
Coordinating travel and accommodations for PAYC members.
Processing honoraria and travel claims.
Managing budget on behalf of PAYC.
Supporting recruitment of new members and providing orientation and on-boarding to new members.
Working with BCAAFC communications department to promote and extend the reach of PAYC.
Supporting PAYC with their projects and initiatives.
Providing conflict management support to PAYC members as needed.
Staffing support and chaperone when PAYC is attending external events such as Annual General Meetings, Membership Meetings, trainings, and conferences.
Planning events, including in-person PAYC meetings, workshops, and trainings.
Developing UAYC: Youth Engagement Funding Proposals.
Working within program budgets to meet program deliverables.
Coordinating with other members of the BCAAFC team to ensure the meaningful inclusion of PAYC in BCAAFC business.
Gathering Our Voices – provides staff support at the Gathering Our Voices (GOV) youth leadership conference hosted by BCAAFC annually, including: Serving as the point person for PAYC at GOV.
Helping ensure that PAYC plays a key role in the planning of GOV.
Supporting PAYC members in their hosting duties at GOV (writing speaking notes, assisting in the procurement of the PAYC legacy gift).
Education Programs – manages all aspects of two educational funding programs (The First Citizens Fund Student Bursary Program and The Post-Secondary Student Support Program (PSSSP), including: Ongoing intake of new applicants to the program.
Reviewing and approving applicants.
Overseeing data collection and management.
Creating and overseeing program budgets.
Tracking scholarship disbursement for financial record keeping.
Overseeing promotion of the funds to eligible people.
Managing communication with potential applicants.
Working with finance department to process payment of funds to eligible applicants.
Providing summary information for funder and stakeholder reports.
Engaging in project management for the development of a student access portal and database.
Required education Completion of a college or university program in Social Work or Child and Youth Care or Youth Development or Community Development or Education or a related field or the equivalent in work experience.
Required work experience and skills Substantial work experience in youth-driven work working on youth-related projects.
Must be able to provide a clear, current criminal record check including a vulnerable sector check.
Substantial experience working with the Indigenous community and service organizations, with a strong understanding of the importance of local protocols.
Strong leadership skills are crucial for guiding the Provincial Aboriginal Youth Council (PAYC) and facilitating youth engagement.
Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for liaising with youth, colleagues, funders, and stakeholders.
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Able to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in budget management.
Strong PC software skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Share Point, Teams and Excel).
Proficiency in collecting and analyzing data to track program outcomes and to generate reports for funders and stakeholders.

Wage: $33.62 per hour.
