Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency Accounts Receivable Collections Yallambie VIC Primary purpose of the role The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) is the Australian Government's primary authority on radiation protection and nuclear safety.
ARPANSA regulates Commonwealth entities using radiation with the objective of protecting people and the environment from the harmful effect of radiation.
ARPANSA undertakes research, provides services, and promotes national uniformity and the implementation of international best practice across all jurisdictions.
ARPANSA is seeking a dynamic individual who under general supervision and direction, will undertake ARPANSA's Account receivable (AR) collections function and assist with other AR duties, in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with the agency's financial management policies and practices and statutory requirements.
The AR collections Officer role is an on-going role, and the occupant will interact with stakeholders both internal and external to the Agency.
Key accountabilities Undertake follow up of outstanding monies payable to ARPANSA, in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with ARPANSA's financial management policies and practices and other statutory requirements; including liaison with external and internal clients, provision of information to external clients regarding overdue accounts; debt collection; and maintenance of AR debtor accounts Undertake regular reconciliation of ARPANSA's debtor accounts; Perform general accounting operations duties as required; Maintain accurate records and perform records management; Undertake other duties and tasks within the section as required.
Our ideal candidate - job specific capabilities To be considered for this position you will have relevant accounts receivable experience, preferably within a government environment.
The role requires a solid understanding of basic accounting and accounts receivable principles along with sound numeracy skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
You will have an awareness of the legislative and policy frameworks underpinning financial management within the public sector including application of the Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act), and knowledge of GST and how it relates to the accounts receivable functions.
Personal attributes include a high degree of initiative and integrity along with excellent communication, liaison, and customer service skills.
This position is in the Yallambie, Victoria office.
The successful candidate must hold Australian citizenship.
ARPANSA requires all new employees to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance as a condition of engagement.
Selection criteria Demonstrated knowledge of government accounting procedures and experience in accounts receivable collections, customer account management and reconciliations.
Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation, and to provide and maintain a high standard of customer service.
Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve both routine and more complex account enquiries.
Proven abilities in relation to the quality and accuracy of work, and to manage and organise workload.
