As the Behaviour Support Nurse, you will work closely with the leadership teams across our four Victorian homes located in Eltham, Kew, Hawthorn and Werribee.
You will be responsible for supporting new or challenging behaviours in our residents associated with cognitive impairments.
Working closely and collaboratively with the resident, their Next of Kin and all staff within the homes.
You will focus on a positive approach to behaviour management.
This will include, but not be limited to having a deep understanding of each resident's social history, clinical diagnosis and staff understanding and capability.
The role will include supporting residents and their families with changing behaviours, providing feedback to the facility or clinical managers on staff understanding and capability, and liaising with the Development & Delivery Team Leader – providing tailored education and training to the staff at each home.
Things that work for us: Bachelor of Nursing is essential.
Post graduate qualifications highly regarded.
Comprehensive clinical leadership with a minimum of 2 years' experience as a Clinical Manager or Facility Manager in a residential aged care setting.
Experience in working with residents with complex behaviours in a residential aged care environment, specifically dementia-specific homes.
Comprehensive understanding of dementia and associated cognitive impairments.
Knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards, including SIRS & National Aged Care Mandatory Quality Indicators Program.
Analyses data and information to identify triggers and risks resulting in challenging behaviours.
Experience with providing education.
Ability to work flexibly within the Facility services.
Ability to provide advice consistent with the mission and philosophy of St Vincent's Care.
Ability to plan and coordinate participant care effectively and utilise St Vincent's Care (SVC) management systems.
Ability to contribute in and support Heart print education activities and to contribute to the development of self and other team members.
Ability to contribute towards effective risk management within the facility, particularly in compliance with Work Health & Safety legislation.
