Biosecurity Officer - Red Imported Fire Ant Preparedness As a Biosecurity Officer you will support the Victorian community with preparing for and managing the impacts of biosecurity threats, mainly focusing on Red Imported Fire Ants (RIFA).
You will be energetic, thoughtful and have enthusiasm for working within a diverse regional team to deliver high quality services to the Victorian community.
Biosecurity Officers support community and industry with invasive plant and animal management, plant biosecurity, pest and disease surveillance to enable market access and respond to biosecurity and agricultural relief emergencies.
You will be required to work as part of a team to undertake RIFA surveillance, identification and recording.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications Knowledge of Victorian agriculture and horticulture industries including biosecurity issues affecting these industries.
Self-Management: experience in planning and prioritising work to ensure outcomes are achieved; resists the temptation to react immediately without taking time to think things through; and uses strengths to contribute constructively.
Stakeholder engagement: Has collaborative, interpersonal and consultation skills, together with the ability to negotiate outcomes and liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including government, non-government organisations, landholders and community members.
Mandatory Qualifications Tertiary degree in Agricultural Science, Natural Resource Management, Science or an equivalent science qualification.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of 3 years.
The work location for this position is Attwood or Cranbourne.
