About the role: What you need to know: The primary purpose of the job is to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle the marine/specialty/property claims cases by collecting and analyzing data according to policy application and/or contract provisions.
Determine whether to accept or deny a claim based on all documentation received.
Typical claims include policy cancellations due to non-pay denial letter required.
Significant emphasis is made on loss mitigation (i.e.
salvage and subrogation).
Aside from claim service and client management, this aspect of the role is key for the profitability of the marine line of business.
The incumbent will be asked to properly establish a solid position before liable third parties.
What we're looking for: Adequate specialist knowledge (Lo B) in technical claims matters as listed below: Basic knowledge of marine claims handling.
Knowledge of policy terminology that enables accurate and systematic interpretation of policy wording.
Basic to medium knowledge of legal/regulatory requirements and litigation/procedures for your line of business, some degree of experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and ADR skills.
Solid experience in negotiation in relation to claims of intermediate to high complexity and knowledge, experience in mediation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution is a plus.
Experience in effectively following up on technical claims audit recommendations and continuous improvement in claims handling is a plus.
