Full time, fixed term for 9 months Exciting role maintaining the collections database in the Chau Chak Wing Museum at the University of Sydney Base Salary $108 K + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The Museum Collections Manager, Documentation primary functions include the administration and maintenance of the Museums' collections database (EMu) and its online collection search (IMu).
In this role, you will develop and implement standard museum procedures, manage documentation and compliance staff, and tasks, including acquisitions, stocktaking, and valuations, while also supporting the Head, Collections Management in the care, documentation, installation, storage, packing, transport, and location control of the Chau Chak Wing Museum collections, acquisitions, exhibitions, and loans.
Your key responsibilities will be to: develop, write and implement standard museum procedures train and supervise museum staff and volunteers in all aspects of collections documentation serve as the administrator for the Museums' Collections Management System, EMu, including development, upgrades, maintenance, and support of the web interface design and manage designated projects of the collection including staffing, resources, procedures, and deliverables instigate and manage data capture to support and enable future methods of collection data use assist with the packing, handling, transport, and installation of collection, acquisition, and loan items About you bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience previous experience working in a Museum or Art Gallery including art/object handling and installation work experience administering EMu or a similar Collection Management System high level attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills highly organised with the ability to lead a team and work collaboratively Sponsorship / work rights for Australia Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
This role requires valid work rights for Australia.
