An opportunity has become available within the APAC Finance for a Collector, based in Melbourne.
This is a permanent, full-time position providing support to the Asia Pac Finance team, reporting to the Accounting Supervisor.
The successful candidate will be experienced, diligent and self-directed, with strong attention to detail and focus on team and customer needs.
In this position you will be responsible for performing all collection activities in compliance with the clearly defined policies and procedures to support efficient cash flow and ensure timely payment of premiums from customers, brokers or co-insurers.
This will include working with global Account Teams to pursue collection of all receivables.
Have responsibility for monitoring, expediting and final collection of all premiums due, focusing on items where effective collections can take place, bad debt provision items and unallocated cash; and ensuring People Soft conversations reflect the latest known status.
Support the efforts of the Operations' Account Teams in the resolution of outstanding premiums.
Collaborate with the Account Teams to ensure that invoices are issued, and premiums are paid within specified time frames.
Support Account Teams in the maintenance of accounts receivable records so that premiums can be collected, identified, and cleared in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate records on incoming payments and report results to the local Manager, Finance on a weekly basis.
Support local Manager, Finance with other duties as may from time to time be deemed appropriate.
Participate in meetings with Operations Account Teams regarding Key Accounts, Pre-Renewal discussions, and/or Captive or Reinsurance panel involvement.
Review and reconcile complex bordereaux payments and/or payment histories for brokers, insureds, and work with Accounts Receivable for accurate allocation.
Independently arrive at decisions on day-to-day issues in the absence of the local Manager, Finance and/or corporate Supervisor/Manager, Collections.
Other issues are to be raised to the local Manager, Finance.
Experience, skills and qualifications Associates Degree in Business, or A-level diploma, or equivalent, as a minimum.
Minimum 2 years of experience in an insurance industry preferable or in financial services.
Knowledge of and experience in Collections, Accounts Receivable or commercial insurance policy processing.
Ability to work independently within specific timeframes and deadlines.
Possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent organisational skills, and ability to recognize and schedule priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, and People Soft/Oracle or other accounting packages preferred.
