Community Corrections Supervisor (WMS02) - CIR Community Corrections Division WA State Location TBD (Monthly Salary as of July 1, 2024: $8,689.00) This is an INTERNAL recruitment, open to current, permanent WA State Dept of Corrections employees only.
"Corrections appreciates and values individuals by promoting an inclusive and diverse environment, which encourages safety." Our agency is looking to INTERNALLY fill a full-time, non-permanent WMS02 Community Corrections Supervisor (CCS) position within the Community Corrections Division (CCD).
This position works in the Critical Incident Review (CIR) Oversight Unit.
Although this position is expected to telework full-time, the incumbent will need to periodically report to a local field office to process work.
This non-permanent opportunity is expected to last about 18 months.
This position is an integral part of the CCD management team and will be responsible for conducting complete, fair, and impartial reviews of critical incidents that have taken place within CCD, or as assigned.

Conduct formal reviews of critical incidents as assigned by the Assistant Secretary for Community Corrections/designee per Department policy.
Apply extensive knowledge of the overall management of a field unit, and of Department operations, policy, and related statutes and WACs to conduct fair, objective, and impartial reviews of critical incidents.
Make recommendations regarding action and ensure policy and/or process gaps are addressed.
Upon completion of the review, debrief the Assistant Secretary for Corrections/designee.
Provide consultation and collaboration with Appointing Authorities regarding critical incident findings and possible action plans.
Recommend system and process improvements to division/agency leadership.
Collaborate with applicable stakeholders to identify system and process improvements based on reviews to enhance operational effectiveness and safety.
Identify risks associated with recommended improvements, along with strategies to mitigate them.
Report recommendations to division leadership and other agency leaders as applicable; develop formal reports, trainings, and/or presentations as necessary.
Required Qualifications A minimum of three years Community Corrections Supervisor experience within the WA State DOC.
The successful candidate will also possess the following REQUIRED knowledge, skills, and abilities: Demonstrated ability to provide positive leadership in times of stress, conflict, and unforeseen events.
Understanding and working knowledge of management and supervision of individuals, including behavior management, security, and safety.
Knowledge of current Department of Corrections policies/procedures, RCWs, WACs, and ACA standards.
Experience applying the Sentencing Reform Act, particularly as it pertains to Community Placement.
Experience as a supervisor in the effective application of Human Resource practices.
Desired Experience Working knowledge of the Gregg Reference Manual for grammar, usage, and style.
Personnel investigation and caseload audit experience.
Note: Carrying a firearm is optional.
To carry requires successful completion of the firearms academy and Control/Impedance Tactics (CIT), psychological screening, and criminal history clearance.
