About the opportunity We have an exciting permanent opportunity for two Compliance Officers (Gas) to join the Gas Installation and Equipment Safety team within Energy Safe Victoria.
They will work collaboratively across the team to assess and undertake inspections of installations and appliances and conduct enforcement actions where required.
You will contribute by: Responding to complaints from industry and/or the public in relation to potential breaches of the Act, Regulations, Standards, and unsafe work practices.
Carrying out technical inspections into incidents (including fatalities) where there are potential breaches of the Act, Regulations, Standards, and unsafe work practices.
Assess, inspect and accept for compliance and safety in line with legislative and Energy Safe requirements.
Exercise appropriate powers to carry out enforcement actions such as issuing warning letters or infringement notices.
Respond to site incidents, inquiries and complaints when required in line with Energy Safe requirements.
Prepare compliance and audit reports related to inspections and audits in relation to complaints and events.
Present evidence and information to support enforcement action where relevant.
Support and deliver safety programs to verify the capacity of duty holders to comply with legislation.
Undertake appropriate internal/external training to develop and maintain skills, knowledge and accreditation in all areas of operation.
Lead or participate on a variety of projects or forums such as trade events or conferences to improve the way we regulate, educate customers, and promote Energy Safe programs and initiatives.
Participate in the development, implementation of strategies, risk management practices and controls to systems, processes, and effective data management.
Contribute to the development and improvement of legislation, regulations, standards, codes, and practices.
Participate in the Energy Safe's availability roster and carry out availability duties as required.
To be successful, you'll have: Current gasfitter/Type B gasfitting registration.
Extensive technical inspection gas installations, gas appliances and auditing experience in the relevant field.
Practical knowledge in the principles and practices related to the field.
Sound knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice with ability to interpret and apply where applicable.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
High level communication, advocacy and dispute resolution skills that fosters effective relationships.
Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal with complaints made by stakeholders.
Experience with providing authoritative written and verbal technical advice and findings to a diverse range of stakeholders or act as subject matter expert.
Ability to conduct complex analysis on designs and formulae and problem-solve issues.
High level interpersonal skills, including ability to influence and keep internal and external stakeholders informed on safety matters.
Excellent organisational and planning skills.
Computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
