Organisation: Department of Transport and Planning Occupation: Land Management Reference: 5505 About the Role The Vicmap Data Officer is a member of the Vicmap Data Production team within the Vicmap Spatial Services (VSS) branch of the Data and Digital Division. VSS delivers a unique range of services and functions that enhance the customer experience of Victoria's core spatial data services, including managing the life cycle of the Vicmap suite of products. This position makes a key contribution towards ensuring the integrity of Vicmap data continues to meet customer needs. The Vicmap Data Officer role will contribute to the end-to-end lifecycle of the state-wide Vicmap products and is responsible for supporting the procedures and services for the creation, improvement, maintenance, and quality assurance of the Vicmap products. This role also provides Vicmap Subject Matter Expertise and ensures all product developments adhere to change management requirements. Position Outcomes / Accountabilities Establish and maintain effective support procedures for framework data sets through the development and maintenance of training materials for data custodians, including instructions on the supply of metadata. Assist in the day-to-day direction of third-party contractors as required to create and enhance data content to agreed schedules. Manage the quality assurance of third-party contractor supplied data against specifications, including random sample testing of outputs against maintenance documents and report results. Prepare regular quality statements for framework data products as assigned. Design and implement framework data improvement projects. Provide input and domain expertise to the design, creation and maintenance of new data products as required. Provide second-level support for users of framework data products. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with users and stakeholders. Provide leadership by example in the compliance with OHS legislation and the building of a safety-first culture. Work collaboratively with team members to ensure successful outcomes. Qualifications and Experience Mandatory Completion of a relevant tertiary and/or industry qualifications as well as 3 to 5 years of experience in managing spatial data are highly desirable. Spatial Data Maintenance: Has knowledge and experience in the maintenance of spatial data products. Spatial Data Improvement Projects: Has experience in designing and running improvement projects to upgrade spatial data product content.
