Database Development & Administration (Information & Communication Technology) Our Fin Tech is seeking a skilled Data/SQL Engineer with a strong focus on Postgre SQL and MS-SQL to join their database engineering team in either Sydney or Melbourne.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and data modelling, along with hands-on experience in managing and optimising SQL databases, including crafting and troubleshooting complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
This role will work closely with software developers, data analysts, and other key company stakeholders to address database needs, ensuring smooth integration with applications and performing functional analysis.
Key Responsibilities: Design and implement efficient data models that leverage database engine capabilities, and create repeatable, accurate analytics.
Your expertise in writing and optimizing complex T/SQL queries will be crucial for maintaining high performance and scalability.
Perform data extraction and manipulation, ensuring accurate and efficient data processing.
Enhance performance through smart use of indexes, keys, and storage configurations.
Monitor and maintain database health, ensuring data integrity and availability.
Uphold the highest standards of data compliance and hygiene, managing user access and maintaining key compliance artifacts like documentation and audit trails.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in SQL database engineering, with a focus on Postgre SQL and MS-SQL.
2+ years of experience in leading data projects.
Proficiency in writing and optimising SQL queries.
Strong knowledge of database architecture, data modelling, and ETL processes.
Familiarity with database management tools and monitoring software.
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
