Director Paediatric Infant Perinatal Emergency Retrieval service (PIPER) The Royal Children's Hospital's (RCH) Vision is "A world where all kids thrive".
RCH is a cornerstone member of the Melbourne Children's Campus, partnering with Murdoch Children's Research Institute, The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics and The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation.
RCH has cared for the children and young people of Victoria for more than 150 years since it was founded in 1870.
A full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other states around Australia and overseas.
About the Role: This position is fixed term for 3 years at up to 1.0 FTE within the PIPER service.
You will be responsible for the overall leadership for the Paediatric Infant Perinatal Emergency Retrieval (PIPER) service in line with RCH wide vision and strategy.
You will be responsible to the Chief of Critical Care for the overall leadership, and the strategic and operational performance of PIPER, as determined by key performance indicators - local, hospital-wide and statewide.
What You'll Achieve: Manage a multidisciplinary team, ensuring that RCH policies and procedures and statewide requirements are appropriately adhered to.
Set the direction of the Paediatric Infant Perinatal Emergency Retrieval (PIPER) in clinical care, education, research and quality in line with the hospital's strategic direction and priorities, and Do H requirements.
Identify, build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Do H, Regional and Metropolitan hospitals and Ambulance Victoria.
Lead the educational activities of PIPER to facilitate a learning environment.
Promote and facilitate good quality original research and quality improvement initiatives in PIPER, including building and supporting relevant internal and external research collaborations.
Lead PIPER in the development of the Electronic medical record.
Develop and manage the PIPER budget and establishment EFT to ensure PIPER activity is within budget.
Effectively manage rosters, leave, performance management, overtime and recall.
Your Skills and Experience: This role is open to clinical and non-clinical applicants.
For Senior Medical Staff applicants: Eligible for full specialist registration with the Medical Practitioners Board of Australia.
Fellowship with a relevant College.
For non-Senior Medical Staff applicants: Management and leadership qualifications appropriate for the role.
For All Applicants: Experience in a major public teaching hospital or similar health service provider preferably at department/director level with demonstrated experience of leading a department and/or large group of professionals.
A higher research or management degree.
Other Requirements: Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain.
Valid Working with Children Check.
Compliance with RCHs "Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases" procedure.
