What you'd be doing in this role As a team lead, you will coach, mentor, and grow a team of front-end engineers while developing your coaching capability to scale the team and meet the needs of the growing editing vision.
Guiding the development and delivery of our internal Editing APIs that are utilized across many teams in Canva.
Collaborate closely with the Canva Ecosystems teams on delivering Editing APIs to external developers.
You'll work alongside the technical lead to facilitate solving some of the most ambitious technical problems and guide the team to deliver results.
You will work closely with the Product Managers to understand and contribute to the product roadmap.
You will drive the planning and refinement of seasonal goals, ensuring alignment between the company, group, and teams.
You will foster a collaboration culture and advocate for non-technical collaborators' engineering needs within the group.
You will own and drive the delivery of large, cross-team, and cross-group initiatives and projects from ideation to completion, with autonomy and independence of decision-making.
You're probably a match if you have Previous experience in technical people leadership and mentorship of frontend engineers.
Experience managing a diverse project portfolio with competing priorities.
Commercial experience in a software development environment, ideally with experience in building frameworks, libraries or APIs.
Proactively led end-to-end product evaluation strategy, including management of other contributors to the quality assurance process.
Our frontend stack consists of Java Script, HTML, CSS, React, Type Script, Mob X, etc.
Experience in some of these would be valuable but is not required.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to break large projects down into smaller ones and deliver on them through others.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, including technical writing and verbal communication skills.
About the team The Editing API team aims to increase Canva's Engineering development velocity.
Our goal is to be a force multiplier, allowing our Canva teams and third-party developers to ship editing-related features with confidence and speed.
We are responsible for improving the developer experience within the Editor and enabling our Ecosystem teams to scale to support the diverse network of third-party developers as we aim to reach 1 B users globally.
Our area of scope includes improving the Canva Editor's code architecture through creating powerful but easy-to-consume APIs and evaluating them, so teams across Canva move faster on their product goals within the Editor.
About the role We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of 6 frontend engineers where their impact will be on increasing the velocity of our internal engineering teams.
This is a critical role as we continue to scale the capability of our editor.
