This role leads the high-performing Food Sourcing Team to ensure the securement of healthy food for Victorians who rely on Foodbank Victoria for access to healthy and culturally appropriate food.
This role will primarily involve leading the food sourcing and supply team to drive procurement activities, focusing on fresh produce, protein, and grocery items.
The Food Sourcing Manager will take a strategic sourcing approach to optimize commercial procurement outcomes across the food supply chain.
Balancing the donated and purchased supply chain, a high level of commercial acumen and innovative thinking is required to identify and translate opportunities to intercept quality, healthy food.

You know that cliché 'no two days are the same'? Ours is more like 'no two hours are the same.' What you'll be doing: Source healthy food, in line with strategic targets, program requirements, and food spending budgets from National and Local Food Donors.
Ensure all food that is sourced is fit for purpose, safe, and compliant for distribution.
Identify and commercialise innovative partnerships and activities to expand access to target food, in formats suited to distribution, including local collaborative supply programs, intercepting food loss and waste, and identifying opportunities to expand our sourcing activities.
Take a hands-on approach to coaching and leading the food sourcing team, driving commercial acumen and innovation in the teams.
Lead the food supply team to drive demand planning and forecasting, purchasing and procurement systems, and activities.
Collaboratively and proactively work with Foodbank Australia to support National food donor relationships in line with Foodbank Victoria's strategic objectives and in line with equitable outcomes for all members of the Foodbank Federation.

Previous extensive experience in FMCG Food businesses, business development, and/or commercial procurement roles.
Proven track record in leading mid-size teams across complex commercial procurement activities.
Have a comprehensive understanding of food safety and compliance, including demonstrated application of FSANZ requirements.
Understanding of supply chain, demand planning, and forecasting experience within dynamic environments.
Previous experience with budget management.
Proven team management and leadership experience, focused on building capacity and commercial acumen within teams.
