Castlegate James is seeking a full-time General Manager - Manufacturing based in Braybrook, Victoria.
This senior leadership role reports directly to the Group CEO and is responsible for overseeing the operational efficiency of all manufacturing sites across Australia.
Your role includes ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintaining high-quality standards, and driving profitability across our facilities.
This role requires regular travel between sites, with some overnight stays.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Overseeing the day-to-day operations of manufacturing sites across Australia Recruiting, directing, and developing senior site management teams Ensuring peak operational efficiency while maintaining quality, safety, and environmental standards Collaborating with Site Managers to develop and implement best manufacturing practices Managing plant hygiene, maintenance, and environmental compliance at all sites Leading and guiding the Manufacturing staff, fostering a positive and proactive team culture Working closely with sales, technical, and SHEQ teams to develop new products and improve processes Ensuring compliance with all relevant state and local regulations, including OH&S and environmental laws Implementing and monitoring cost controls and production efficiency against budget and forecast Leading capital expenditure projects, including evaluating and implementing proposals Developing and maintaining inventory control systems and procurement protocols Providing detailed monthly reports to the Group CEO on financial performance, site activities, and compliance issues This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of a company dedicated to transforming food by-products into valuable animal feed products, playing a critical role in directly supporting the sustainability of the agricultural industry.
About You To qualify, you will need a tertiary degree in agriculture, business, or a related field , along with at least 10 years of senior management experience in the stock feed, food, or agricultural manufacturing industries.
A deep understanding of nutrition and product knowledge within the stock feed and agriculture sector is also essential.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued: Strong experience in people management and team development Proficiency in ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 or SAP Proven track record in leading manufacturing teams with a focus on process implementation and maintenance Exceptional commercial acumen and a strategic mindset In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and practices, including OH&S, with a commitment to leading by example Hands-on management style, with the ability to multitask and adapt in a dynamic, multi-site environment Experience managing multi-site operations with a focus on compliance, including Feed Safe accreditation As our ideal candidate, you will possess strong leadership and communication skills that enable you to guide teams effectively across multiple sites.
